Are e-scooter apps necessary?

A lot of scooters now require companion apps for settings, locking, or updates. Do you find such apps necessary? Well, I barely open them after some initial setup. Do you regularly use your escooter’s app, or would you rather have all controls directly on the display?

Unfortunately, I don't own a scooter yet. So, I wouldn't really know much about what the app is used for and how it benefits the users.

Do some scooters come with LCD display like e-bikes do?

I know a few people who have the e-scooter app, and, just like you, @Justin, they have opened it, set it up, and then haven't bothered with it since.

It would seem that the apps are there for those who can put them to use, but they are not necessary.
