With e-bikes, it's possible to know how much distance a fully charged battery would cover before being depleted. As a result of this, if a rider is going on a long distance which one battery can't cover, it's best to carry a spare because of a situation of not finding a place to charge along the way.

How do you feel about carrying a spare battery on long rides?

My ebike has 45 km range and I don't use it frequently, I don't ride long distance so I don't need a spare battery. That's also true for my electric scooter. I get 250 km range and that is more than enough for me. I haven't considered buying a spare battery yet.

This is completely understandable in your case because there's no need to carry a spare battery when you're not riding for long. For those who need to travel long distance, it's vital for them to carry a spare battery because of likely no charging spots along the way. Some places wouldn't allow you charge in their establishment.
