Has the industry become too obsessed with speed instead of safety?

This is something I hear quite often, and it has got me thinking as well, especially when I see the speed some people take off on their e-bikes and e-scooters in packed places without a thought for others.

Has the e-bike and e-scooter industry become too obsessed with speed that they forgot about safety?

A lot of marketing focuses on top speed, acceleration, and motor power because those specs are attractive for young audience. However, things like braking performance, tire quality, lighting, stability, and battery safety often get less attention from buyers.
As far as I am concerned, I’d rather have an e-scooter or e-bike that feels safe at 30 km/h than one that can hit 70 km/h but feels unstable. Having great speed sounds exciting, but after months of riding, comfort and reliability become more important

I have never been a fan of speed, so this not part of what I focus on when it comes to e-bikes. I want to feel safe when I am on the road, not necessarily ride at 100mph.
