What Are the Hidden Costs of Owning an E-Bike or E-Scooter?

eBike costs more than a mountain or a regular bike. Escooter comes in a various price range but generally it is more expensive than petrol scooter. Apart from the purchase, which is generally expensive, what other expenses related to owning electric bike or scooter surprised you? Battery replacement, repairs, accessories, what else? Do you still think it is cheaper than owning a petrol vehicle in the long run?

The one that costs more aside from buying the ebike is the cost of replacing the battery. The average ebike battery can last up to 2 to 3 years before developing faults, and replacing them always cost close to 400 dollars.

The maintenance cost is another thing because it is not every mechanic shop that specialises in doing the repairs, but all in all, I still like it more than the petrol scooter if we consider the longterm benefits. If you do the calculations, you will see that I am right about that.

What makes you think Henry and I are bots? Maybe you are

If you have to replace battery, it will cost you a lot of money. I think a lot of people aren't ready to switch to electric vehicle because of this reason. However, if you calculate the actual cost, by the time your electric scooter need a battery replacement you have already saved a lot of money on fuel.
One major issue I think is related to charging. If you have to use power generator running on fossil fuel to charge your electric scooter, that's a huge cost that very gew people are talking
